I always believed that a photographer should do personal work. Personal work to me is all about using your creative senses to do something that reflects you, as the visual artist, not just showing the work that pays the bills. My greatest love is personal work. I encourage all photographers to delve into their soul and produce images from within the walls of their mind.
My journey began after reading Barbara Woods', "The Prophetess". What a great book, found by accident, or not? at that time, I wanted to shoot a creative project, something with angels, so I rented costumes..while I was there, I rented some spacelike costumes, not really knowing what I was going to do with either. So I rented them all. At the time I was reading a lot about world religion and was inspired to incorporate words into my images, in the end the whole work was a journey, incorporating science and religion as one.
This image incorporates(with the permission of Barbara Wood)the point that we are all equal when we are born, all believing the same, our connection with the one source. These same belief's apply until our geography educates us as to what religion we will follow...usually the choice that our culture/family endorses...for now...until we are old enough to educate ourselves in what we may believe...and so we continue the chain of personal education...teaching what our current opinions are to our children....all of us sure that it is the correct choice. The one true choice, but is it?
